Full-to-full fuel policy in Spain
You pick up the car with a full tank and return it full. Anything else (prepaid, half-tank) is almost always a worse deal.

'Full-to-full' is the only fair fuel policy. Prepaid tanks charge you the entire tank up front at a higher rate than retail and never refund leftover fuel. 'Empty-to-empty' is worse — you can't return it perfectly empty without running out. Always refuel at a Repsol or Cepsa within 10 km of return; the closest 24h station to Málaga Airport is the Repsol on A-7 km 233, 800m before the airport exit. Keep the receipt.
